We all know that water is good for us, but often the reasons are a little fuzzy. And even if we know why we should drink water, it’s not a habit that many people form.

But there are some very powerful reasons to drink lots of water every day, and forming the habit isn’t hard, with a little focus.

The thing about it is, we don’t often focus on this habit. We end up drinking coffee, and lots of soda, and alcohol, not to mention fruit juices and teas and milk and a bunch of other possibilities. Or just as often, we don’t drink enough fluids, and we become dehydrated — and that isn’t good for our health.

I’ve made drinking water a daily habit, although I will admit that a couple of years ago I was more likely to drink anything but water. Now I don’t drink anything but water, except for a cup of coffee in the morning and once in awhile a beer with dinner. I love it.

Here are 9 powerful reasons to drink water (with tips on how to form the water habit afterwards):

  1. Weight loss. Water is one of the best tools for weight loss, first of all because it often replaces high-calorie drinks like soda and juice and alcohol with a drink that doesn’t have any calories. But it’s also a great appetite suppressant, and often when we think we’re hungry, we’re actually just thirsty. Water has no fat, no calories, no carbs, no sugar. Drink plenty to help your weight-loss regimen.
  2. Heart healthy. Drinking a good amount of water could lower your risks of a heart attack. A six-year study published in the May 1, 2002 American Journal of Epidemiology found that those who drink more than 5 glasses of water a day were 41% less likely to die from a heart attack during the study period than those who drank less than two glasses.
  3. Energy. Being dehydrated can sap your energy and make you feel tired — even mild dehydration of as little as 1 or 2 percent of your body weight. If you’re thirsty, you’re already dehydrated — and this can lead to fatigue, muscle weakness, dizziness and other symptoms.
  4. Headache cure. Another symptom of dehydration is headaches. In fact, often when we have headaches it’s simply a matter of not drinking enough water. There are lots of other causes of headaches of course, but dehydration is a common one.
  5. Healthy skin. Drinking water can clear up your skin and people often report a healthy glow after drinking water. It won’t happen overnight, of course, but just a week of drinking a healthy amount of water can have good effects on your skin.
  6. Digestive problems. Our digestive systems need a good amount of water to digest food properly. Often water can help cure stomach acid problems, and water along with fiber can cure constipation (often a result of dehydration).
  7. Cleansing. Water is used by the body to help flush out toxins and waste products from the body.
  8. Cancer risk. Related to the digestive system item above, drinking a healthy amount of water has also been found to reduce the risk of colon cancer by 45%. Drinking lots of water can also reduce the risk of bladder cancer by 50% and potentially reduce the risk of breast cancer.
  9. Better exercise. Being dehydrated can severely hamper your athletic activities, slowing you down and making it harder to lift weights. Exercise requires additional water, so be sure to hydrate before, during and after exercise.

Nepal, always staggering under debt
lagging far behind, lined up in poverty line
country’s economy in pitiful condition
mostly hindered by terror and tension

millions of starving and frightened faces
without basic necessities, still live in the dark age
deprived areas, people in down and out situation
crying for mercy over their pathetic condition

corruption everywhere rooted down in society
everyplace in these days is rife with bribery
from officers to leaders, they lost their morality
they rather amass the wealth themselves in reality

no hope for opportunities and lack of employment
nation’s youth migrating toward alien nation
hand-to-mouth situation for most of the people
pipe distance for their health and education

104 years of Rana’s autocracy and brutality
liberation of country on 2007 B.S. after a century
neither country prospered during the Shah dynasty
nor after the decades from 2046 B.S. democracy

decade and more of people’s war, thousands lives lost
and even more severely disabled in the aftermath of the war
thousands women widowed and children orphaned
although war settled, history mourns for what have happened

political chaos worsening day by day affecting whole nation
daily life often obstructed with strikes and violence
conspiracies everywhere for the power to reign again
fight for human rights but why fight merely on race, culture and religion ?

Being Single….

The two needles of Q and Q watch were moving like the march of ant which have neither desire to reach the destiny nor choice to stop. Seema realized that the day had crept away with no changes in her life. She unwontedly admitted that Pritam wouldn’t return at any cost.

Seema, sway away her curls from her forehead and closed her eyes. At the age of 22, Seema was still beautiful as when she was married at 18 with few lines conquered beneath her eyes representing the struggle to survive. Before few months, she used to have few girlish desires as any other women of 22 have. When she gave birth to her first child as a girl seven months before, she thought she was never happy. She felt the real pleasure of enjoying her womanhood; the proud ness of being a woman and a mother at the same time.

Pritam and Seema were married four years ago with the fact that they would learn to love each other. As the consequence of their marriage, they were happy to share the bond and were attached to each other immediately. Despite of variation in their lifestyles, choices of music, foods and moods, they learnt to respect each other. Truly, they supported each other in every reasons, points and aspects of life.

Pritam, worked as a teacher in a neighborhood college of their town which was far away from the capital, earned satisfactorily to survive his mother and his family. Seema as a house wife never disappointed her mother-in-law instead she considered herself to be luck enough to have an elderly support. Seema as the only child of her educated parents brought wisdom and knowledge in Pritam’s house. She believed in simplicity, determination and had assured herself that she would be further studying as Pritam encouraged her to take a job.

In presence of load shedding in Kathmandu Valley, thousands and thousands of candles burnt their soul to lighten the atmosphere. Seema thought what if she burnt like a candle.

Alas! If she could….then she thought of ‘Priya!’ her only child; her gift to Pritam. She then badly missed Priya, who was living with her grandparents. Seema closed her empty eyes with no liquors inside.

The day when Pritam had called from Kathmandu to give good news of his new job, she was so excited that she nearly cried. That day only she organized everything and packed clothes of her mother-in-law, hers and Priya’s. It had been decided that Pritam was coming back to accompany them to the capital, the city of dreams. Seema thought their life was going to change for better and how much Pritam means for her.

Seema in dismay was waiting for Pritam to back home who was supposed to come early in the morning. When the telephone rang she thought that she couldn’t speak……..she heard her mother-in-law murmuring in a faint voice…..she heard somebody mentioned about accident……and Pritam’s death!!!!!!!!

When she woke up it was already four days since that telephone was received. At first she couldn’t think about anything………. Rampantly she was asking too herself “How could that happened?”

Her loving husband ‘Pritam’ died in a bus accident, it was her husband only who died in that accident. Seema thought she would die or cut into pieces. She thought no point to live…..for few days she forgot about ‘Priya’. After few days of rituals, she wondered about her presence but as each day passes by the more she thought about Priya.

Having such turmoil in her life, when she looked at the mirror for the first time after two months she hardly recognized herself. She was as grey as a ghost with sunken eyes and hollow cheeks. The more she tried to forget about her husband’s absence, the more her white attire tortured her.

When she decided to live again for herself and Priya her mother-in-law was confused. Inspite of many objections Seema started to dress as before. The things she missed were ‘Sindhur’ and ‘Pote’ which were tribute to Pritam.

After Pritam’s death she turned herself as cold as a rock. She felt bad when her mother-in-law accused her being depraved just because she had wanted to live again. Despite of her parents many requests to stay with them she decided to live alone but left Priya for sometimes untill she settles. Seema felt remorseful for Pritam’s mother when she was thrown away from the will for the reason that Pritam’s child was not a boy. Seema decided to fight for her right which was either her fortitude or the greed to secure Priya’s future for which she was given of theone third of property.

With the support from her parents she applied for job at Capital and took up her studies again. Far away from her daughter, Seema always thought about possible ways to bring Priya to live with her. She felt the urge to embrace, care and kiss her innocent daughter.

When people ogle her in her colorful dresses, she breathes heavily inside that burns her soul. And when girls at her age mistaken for her freedom she reflects a matured smile. She has a freedom to live alone which was definitely not her choice. And when her well-wishers ask her to get married again, she felt a stab in her stomach, left with no words and she badly misses Pritam.

Being single and reviving her puzzled life with shattered dreams were not what she had wanted in her life but it was a fact that each day she was living with for Priya and herself.

Being Single…
Lost in sea of grief
Searching for that tranquility,
Which would never exist…
With the solitude soul
With no choice left to claim
Empty eyes and blur past
Guided to led life again
Being single…

This story is dedicated to many known and unknown women like Seema……….for their struggle to live alone.

Converse the great shoes…
1908–1941: The Early Days and Chuck Taylor

In his late 30′s, Marquis M. Converse, who was previously a respected manager at a footwear manufacturing firm, opened the Converse Rubber Shoe Company (also known as the Boston Rubber Shoe Company) in Malden, Massachusetts in 1908. The company was a rubber shoe manufacturer, providing winterized rubber soled footwear for men, women, and children. By 1910, Converse was producing 4,000 shoes daily, but it wasn’t until 1915 that the company began manufacturing athletic shoes for tennis. The company’s main turning point came in 1917 when the Converse All-Star basketball shoe was introduced. This was a real innovation at the time, considering the sport was only 25 years old. Then in 1921, a basketball player named Charles H. “Chuck” Taylor walked into Converse complaining of sore feet. Converse gave him a job. He worked as a salesman and ambassador, promoting the shoes around the United States, and in 1923 after publishing a retrospective on the first 60 years of basketball and teaching his first basketball clinic at North Carolina State University, his signature was added to the All Star patch. He tirelessly continued this work until shortly before his death in 1969. Converse also customized shoes for the New York Renaissance (the “Rens”), basketball’s first all African American pro basketball team.

Chuck Taylor has developed a great shoe with great design. This time I have bought converse shown below… it’s good, isn’t it ? And for showing up my new shoes to you all I came up with following graphical effects…by the way that’s my feet. So, howz it?
